Belichick Reluctant to Recognize Patriots “Juggernaut”

During an interview with the press after the game against the Washington Redskins Bill Belichick answered questions about the power of the Patriots offense somewhat evasively. When asked “What do you say to fans that think from watching the game….that the offense is a juggernaut?”

Rather than simply saying “they’re right, next question” Belichick responded, “Well, as I’ve been saying, this game was a step in our preparations, it was part of the process. Some things were okay and hopefully we can continue to build on those. Other things were a little less than okay and they need to be corrected and improved and that’s what the process is, so that’s what we’re going to do.”

Clearly, Bill was working hard to try and not build up expectations too much or get quoted using the phrase “offensive juggernaut” but the game spoke for itself. The 41-0 victory over the Redskins was Washington’s worst pre-season loss since 1974 when they lost 48-3 to the Houston Oilers. While Washington’s players and management are rushing to point out that pre-season games don’t count, you’d have a hard time convincing Pats fans this wasn’t a pretty good sign for the regular season, which, oh by the way, starts September 10th.

The Patriots play the Giants this Thursday and the Bills two Sundays from now and New England Patriots Tickets are still available for both games on StubHub.
