New England Patriots vs. Detroit Lions Analysis

Fans who managed to catch the New England Patriots take on the Detroit Lions this past weekend were glad to see the Patriots salvage a win in the closing moments of the game. At the same time, however, this was not an impressive performance put up by the Pats by any stretch of the imagination. Former Patriots Quarterback Steve Grogan said, “The team was flat, the crowd was flat, and the entire atmosphere was flat. Cory Dillon scored three times on Sunday

Despite the poor performance recently, the Patriots are poised the capture a playoff berth and the AFC East with a victory over the Dolphins in Miami this weekend and a loss by the Jets at the hands of the Buffalo Bills. One positive spin on last weekend’s victory over the Lions was that Cory Dillon seemed to come out of retirement, finally, to play the role he has been meant to play all season. We’ll see what this weekend brings.
