Patriots Still Tops in Power Rankings

ESPN.com has released their weekly Power Rankings, and of course, with yet another win, the New England Patriots are still firmly entrenched in the #1 spot. This isn’t particularly news, mainly because the Patriots have been at the top of these rankings for basically the entire season. However, I do feel it’s worth noting that after two close calls for the Pats, the pundits at ESPN.com decided to discuss openly whether or not a loss would actually cost the Pats their Power Rankings crown.

According to the pundits, it most certainly would not. Given that the only other one-loss team is Dallas, and the New England Patriots destroyed the Cowboys in Dallas earlier this year, it would stand to reason that even one loss wouldn’t cost the Pats their top spot. While many people are predicting a big time upset this week with New England facing the Steelers, I believe the Patriots will protect their home turf just fine.
