A Steeler Guarantees Victory

In what may be the most confounding sports story I’ve seen so far this football season, apparently some player from the Pittsburgh Steelers that I’ve never heard of is guaranteeing a victory for Pittsburgh this weekend. The guy’s name is Anthony Smith. He’s a defensive back for the Pittsburgh Steelers. He played college ball at Syracuse. He also said one of the oddest things I’ve ever heard out of an athlete’s mouth, and I think his team will suffer for it.

If SpyGate has proven anything this season, it’s that you don’t tug on Superman’s cape. The Patriots have played two extremely physical and tough road games, both of which they barely escaped with their perfect record intact. They’re as close to vulnerable as they’ve been all season. Their air attack is beginning to show some signs of cracking in the cold weather. And you give them a sound byte guaranteeing victory. Congratulations, Mr. Smith. You have certainly guaranteed a victory – a Patriots victory.
