According to reports out of ESPN.com, the head of NFL referees has ruled that the officiating during the controversial Pats-Ravens was fair. NFL senior vice president of officiating Mike Pereira ruled Thursday that every call in the game was in fact correct. This should hopefully quiet the Ravens, who still seem to be bumping their gums about the bad officiating. The simple fact of the matter is that the Ravens let a sure win slip away against a championship-caliber team when they had them on the ropes. The Ravens should look in the mirror.
As for the Patriots, they have bigger fish to fry. After dismissing the comments of one Mr. Smith yesterday, the Pats will continue to get ready for the Steelers. This is expected to be the Patriots’ last real challenge to their quest for an undefeated season, so you can bet they’re working as hard as ever to prepare for the men from Steel City. While they downplayed the comments, I guarantee you it’s added at least a little extra fuel to their fire. Also, fun Patriots fact of the day. Did you know that if the season ended today, the Pats would end up with the number two pick in the draft next year by virtue of their ownership of San Francisco’s first round pick in 2008? How sick is that?
