Pats Prepare for Playoffs

With two full weeks until the next Patriots game, we will be focusing a lot on fluff pieces like this one about the “uncertainty awaiting the Patriots in the playoffs.”  It’s a very decent read, and it speaks to the going narrative in the sports media which basically amounts to this - now that the Patriots have fun the table in the regular season, none of it means anything unless they win the Super Bowl.  First of all, this is bogus.  These regular season records will stand, Super Bowl or not.  I understand the impetus behind saying such a thing, but the fact remains that it is just not true.

While a Super Bowl win will solidify the Pats as the greatest team in NFL history, it is not necessary to this season now to make it great.  This has already been an amazing season for the Pats.  I also scoff at the notion that uncertainty could lurk in the playoffs for a team that has won three Super Bowls together.  There is no uncertainty for the Patriots.  There is only the calm, professional preparation that accompanies any game for these Patriots.  They will come out prepared.  They will likely execute very well.  And they will likely play some extremely good football in the postseason.  Don’t expect the Pats to flinch now.
