Jags Start Jawing

The Jacksonville Jaguars did not apparently get the memo about not giving the New England Patriots billboard material.  One of the Jacksonville players - defensive lineman Paul Spicer to be exact - went on record much earlier in the year, in the wake of the SpyGate scandal, and said that he believe the punishment the Pats received should be extremely severe.  Spicer went on to say that he felt the Patriots should not be allowed in the playoffs for at least one season.  Now, this would all be well in the past if someone hadn’t asked Spicer about his comments earlier this week.  This is just the media stirring up trouble when they ask questions about things that were said months ago.

But here’s the real kicker.  Spicer is standing by his previous statements.  When all he had to do was recant slightly, give the Pats their due as a great team, and say that he maybe overreacted a bit, he didn’t do that.  Instead, he decided to not only stand by his statements but take a further jab or two at the Patriots and their historic season.  Memo to Spicer - when  you are about to take on the only undefeated team left in the NFL, and it’s playoff time, and that team has already won three Super Bowls, don’t talk smack.  This team plays better with a chip on its collective shoulder, and you just gave the Patriots all the ammo they’ll likely need to mow you down.
