As New England fans everywhere brace themselves for the absolute worst, we have this bizarre article out of ESPN.com claiming that Randy Moss has reached out to former quarterback Daunte Culpepper, and the two have discussed reuniting on a team that needs both a QB and a star wide receiver. Of course, Moss and Culpepper were a big-time draw in Minnesota, where they lit up defenses all over the league in the 90s. While the two men had issues with one another in the past, they are apparently good friends now and are open to the idea of playing together again.
While this is a great deal for Culpepper, it’s absolutely idiotic for Moss. This smacks of posturing and grand-standing, and it’s almost sad that Culpepper has been brought into it. No offense to Daunte Culpepper, but Randy Moss could take passes from almost any quarterback in the league. There are many teams who already have top-tier QBs who are willing to pay top dollar for Moss’s services. He doesn’t need to hinge the last part of his career on Daunte Culpepper. Many pundits still feel that Moss will end up in New England. I hope that is the case.
