Patriots Sign Tight End
The New England Patriots confuse me to no end. I think I know a little bit about football, but then the Patriots do things sometimes that just make me scratch my head. I suppose this is why Bill Belichick has won three Super Bowls, and I have won negative zero. I’m not really questioning the man, because I think he’s earned the right to do whatever he wants with his team. However,
the signing of tight end Marcus Pollard has me more than a little confused. Pollard isn’t exactly an impact player. He’s 36 years old and wasn’t much use to the Seahawks last year.
Of course, apparently this all feeds into the Patriots’ apparent draft day strategy. According to reports, the Patriots plan on spending the entire draft this year only drafting the best possible player on the board. The Pats don’t seem to think they have any true “needs,” so they’re just going to take the best darn football player they can get with each and every pick. I’ll expound a bit more on what this means as we draw closer to the draft, but let me just say today that I absolutely love this philosophy and cannot wait to watch the draft.
