Oakland Raiders owner Al Davis made a scene at a press conference Tuesday while announcing the firing of Raiders head coach Lane Kiffin. After calling the team’s ex-coach embarrassing and a disgrace to the organization, Davis made a comment after ending the new conference to drag New England down right along with him, announcing that the Patriots had tampered with Randy Moss before acquiring the wide receiver in April 2007 in a trade with Oakland.
Bill Belichick is denying any allegations that Moss had a workout with New England before obtaining him from Oakland, and Moss himself has denied commenting on the situation. NFL spokesman Greg Aiello claims that no tampering charges had ever been filed in regard to Moss, leaving the statement as a he said/she said situation.
While it may take a while to straighten things out with the tampering call, Moss will in the meantime try to find rhythm with Matt Cassel. Tom Brady’s season-ending injury has had an effect on the wide receiver, who caught 22 catches in the first three games of last year’s season but has only had 12 catches so far this season.
