Last Minute Buildup for Pats Defense

Adalius Thomas is out with a forearm injury. Eric Alexander is on the reserve/injured list with a hamstring injury. Pierre Woods is sitting the sidelines with a mouth injury. Three linebackers, three injuries; what do the Patriots do now that their depth is slowly melting away? Sign Rosey Colvin, of course! After hosting the free agent Colvin at Gillette Stadium earlier this week, New England has signed the former Patriot back onto the team.

Rosevelt Colvin, a 10-year NFL veteran and 6’3”, 250-pound linebacker out of Purdue University, spent five seasons with the Patriots (2003-2007) before being released last February. He was picked up by the Houston Texans but released after training camp, not playing a game yet this season. The Patriots hope signing Colvin will help ease the pain from the hole their injured list leaves, and with his 414 tackles and 52.5 sacks in his nine seasons (with the Bears and the Patriots,) he certainly will aid New England’s faltering defense. The team also signed linebacker Angelo Craig to the practice squad, and the two will jump right into play to help the Patriots gear up for next week’s game against the Seattle Seahawks.
