The Fate of Bruschi

The New England Patriots are on the West Coast this week coming off a win in Seattle while preparing for next week’s game against the Oakland Raiders, but one player who won’t be joining them in California this week is veteran linebacker Tedy Bruschi, who left last week’s game against the Seahawks with a knee injury. Bruschi reportedly flew back to Massachusetts following the Patriots’ 24-21 over Seattle on Sunday, undergoing tests this week on his left knee.

Bruschi’s injury came in the second quarter of Sunday’s game when his knee collided with teammate Mike Richardson helmet-first. Bruschi’s knee had been bothering him for the last couple weeks, but his collision with Richardson pushed it over the top, though Bruschi was seen walking out of the locker room after Sunday’s game. It is expected that Bruschi will be out at least three or four weeks, but nothing is official at this point except the fact that the Patriots need this linebacker and 13 year veteran in the team’s last few important games of the season. Bruschi is just one more defensive player on New England’s roster to go down with an injury this season, following Ty Warren, Pierre Woods, Rodney Harrison, Adalius Thomas and Terrence Wheatley.
