Peppers to Foxborough?

The end of the NFL season means speculations and observations are flying amuck, and this year is absolutely no different from any others. The New England Patriots are caught in a whirlwind of change as a monstrous brain drain just took Scott Pioli, Josh McDaniels, Brad Seely and Dom Capers from the team, and aside from the excruciating task of hauling in a new set of coaches for next season, Bill Belichick also has to wrap his ingenious football mind around drafting the best players to fill the team’s offense and defensive holes. Now that Carolina defensive end Julius Peppers has announced what could be his cat call to the Panthers by making it known he will be a free agent at the end of this season, talk has ignited regarding whether or not the Patriots and the Panthers will be striking a deal soon.

The biggest tipoff that Peppers could possibly become a Patriot came at Peppers’ statement that he would like to play in a 3-4 defense – which (surprise!) the Patriots do. New England is also looking for experienced defensive players to help ease some of the defensive woes that were cast on the team this year, but will the Patriots opt to spend the big bucks on Julius Peppers? And would Peppers want to be play for New England? Only time will tell.
