Just because the New England Patriots won’t be in the Super Bowl this year doesn’t mean that Bill Belichick will stay out of the spotlight. The famed Patriots head coach has yet to be confirmed by NBC as part of the network’s Super Bowl program this Sunday, but Boston Sports Media Watch let it slip that Belichick could be making an appearance during the Feb. 1 event as a commentator, breaking down both the Cardinals’ and the Steelers’ defenses alongside Cris Collinsworth.
Belichick’s complex mind for football has placed him at the top ranks of head coaches in the NFL, and his opinion is surely valued by football fans across the nation. If it is indeed true that Bill Belichick will be part of NBC’s Super Bowl coverage on Sunday, it won’t be the first time he is called upon for a Super Bowl telecast. Belichick also contributed his talents to Super Bowl XL a few years back, when the Pittsburgh Steelers played the Seattle Seahawks.
On a related topic, Bill Belichick won’t be the only Patriot to appear on the Super Bowl pregame show. Safety Rodney Harrison is also scheduled to join NBC’s pregame show.
