Reese to Help Fill Pioli’s Position with Patriots

Ex-Tennessee Titans general manager Floyd Reese is the newest name to be thrown into the mix with the New England Patriots, and this 31-year NFL veteran has been tapped by Bill Belichick and Co. to help fill the shoes of ex-vice president of player personnel Scott Pioli, who recently left the Pats to take a position as general manager of the Kansas City Chiefs. Reese will work alongside 33-year-old director of player personnel Nick Caserio in a restructured front-office setup for New England, and his main role for this new job will include several tasks, including contracts.

Floyd Reese is no newcomer to the NFL and he has been working with teams in the league since 1975, when he signed with the Detroit Lions as a strength and conditioning coach. Since then, Reese has worked with the Minnesota Vikings and Houston Oilers, also joining the Tennessee Titans as general manager in 1994, where he remained until 2006. Reese has also been a commentator on ESPN’s NFL Live and a writer for ESPN.com. In his tenure as a general manager, Reese has chosen three first round draft picks that have gone on to win the NFL Rookie of the Year Award: Eddie George (1996), Jevon Kearse (1999) and Vince Young (2006).
