West Virginia QB Pat White is one of the biggest prospects for the 2009 NFL Draft, and his talents in both throwing and running have earned him a place in the spotlight at this year’s Combine, making him one hot commodity in these upcoming weeks before the draft. While White has been seen shopping around the teams in the league, this potential QB/WR has recently been spotted in Foxborough, as he spent part of last week working out with the New England Patriots. White could be an asset to the Pats, who recently shipped out Matt Cassel to the Kansas City Chiefs. Kevin O’Connell now has the in to being Tom Brady’s backup, but the addition of Pat White could give O’Connell some competition for the number two slot.
White just finished his college football career at West Virginia, having a stellar senior year where he completed 65.7% of his throws at QB for 1,842 yards and 21 touchdowns. At the NFL Combine earlier this month, the quarterback ran the fastest 40 time at 4.55 seconds, also posting a position-best 35-inch vertical jump. White was a standout at the Combine and could be an asset to the Patriots, should the team use up its early draft pick on him.
