Pats Plot Next Move

The New England Patriots have been scooping up players left and right ever since the free agency started, and this week has proven that the Bill Belichick army isn’t quite done yet. Now focusing attention on the upcoming NFL Draft, the Patriots are on the hunt again, and the latest player to be under scrutiny is Michigan State quarterback Brian Hoyer. Hoyer, a projected second-day draft pick, was said to have worked out with the New England Patriots this week, also scheduling a workout with the Cleveland Browns.

Hoyer’s workout with the Patriots means that Bill Belichick is seriously considering adding another quarterback onto the team’s lineup, helping fill the void that Matt Cassel left when he was traded to the Kansas City Chiefs earlier this month. Hoyer may indeed get his chance to become a breakout backup QB just like Cassel and Tom Brady, as this 6’2”, 215-pound QB has been one of the strong points of the Spartans’ football team over the last two years. Will Brian Hoyer become the next Tom Brady backup? At this point, it’s hard to tell, but at least Bill Belichick is considering his options.
