Pats Pushing For Taylor?

Patriots owner Robert Kraft recently expressed that he’d love to acquire free agent defensive end Jason Taylor.  It now appears that the six-time Pro Bowler could be leaning towards landing in New England.  Taylor acknowledged that he was aware of Kraft’s admiration but would not tip his hand concerning where he will sign.  “Those things will sort themselves out, and hopefully in the near future so I can get back to work,” Taylor said. “But it’s great to be wanted.  It’s great to be wanted.  Sure, especially an organization like them or the Dolphins.”  Taylor spent 11 seasons with Miami, the Patriots’ main competition for the defensive end’s services.

Taylor seems precisely like the type of player that the Patriots are becoming notorious for acquiring.  The Pats are known for revitalizing the performance of former stars late in their careers, such as Corey Dillon and Junior Seau.  Taylor spent much of last season banged up while under contract with the Washington Redskins.  The team released Taylor this offseason when the two sides could not come to terms on financial adjustments to his contract.  Taylor could be the next player that the Patriots make look 10 years younger.  He and the newly-acquired Fred Taylor seem to fit the mold for the Pats and it seems that the team is making a strong push for him.
