While most of the players and coaches around the NFL are spending these next couple weeks gearing up for the NFL Draft, one player in the league is getting ready for a challenge of an entirely different caliber. Tedy Bruschi, an all-star linebacker and 14-year veteran with the New England Patriots, will be busy spending the next week with Tedy’s Team, a group of runners he’s assembled that will tackle the Boston Marathon on April 20, 2009.
Tedy’s Team works in conjunction with the American Stroke Association, which Bruschi has been an avid supporter of since 2005, when the linebacker suffered a stroke at the age of 31. Bruschi is now dedicated to raising money and awareness for the American Stroke Association, and Tedy’s Team is just one way he contributes to the cause.
Bruschi is a San Francisco native and was selected by the New England Patriots in the third round of the 1996 NFL Draft out of Arizona. Tedy Bruschi has been a dominating force on the Pats’ roster for the last 14 seasons, having led the team in tackles numerous times.
