Jets Keep Talking As Week 2 Comes Into Play

Rex Ryan and the New York Jets better be ready to put their money where their mouths are. The trash-talking extraordinaires have done nothing but fuel the fire to the already-smoldering Patriots-Jets rivalry, and you better believe Bill Belichick and Co. will be ready for war when New England and New York face off this weekend in one of the must-see matchups of Week 2. Ryan’s comment about kissing Bill Belichick’s rings caused a stir earlier this offseason, and it seems like the Jets’ new head coach is making no efforts to keep his players from doing the same.

The newest Jet to cause a scene in the media is free safety Kerry Rhodes, who stated his plan for this weekend’s game earlier this week, saying, “You go out from the first quarter on, from the first play on, and try to embarrass them. Not just go out there and try to win, try to embarrass them. Try to make them feel bad when they leave here. We don’t want to just beat them. We want to send a message to them, ‘We’re not backing down from you and we expect to win this game, and it’s not going to be luck, it’s not going to be a mistake.’” Rhodes went on to boldly promise that the Jets’ defense would hit Tom Brady more than six times, a claim that will need to be backed up this weekend. The Patriots keep stating they aren’t taking this trash talk to heart, and we’ll see this weekend which is the better team.
